Melbourne software company, JX2 Technology, today announced the installation of its dynamic web based solution,
VINx2, into two wineries considered by the wine industry to be at the forefront of technical innovation:
Josef Chromy Wines of Tasmania and The Vintage Wineworx of Western Australia.
Both adopted VINx2 ahead of vintage 2008 - now successfully underway.
VINx2 was installed at Josef Chromy Wines ahead of its official opening in December. Tasmanian Premier Paul Lennon attended the event and has been quoted as saying "Mr Chromy's latest investment provided a home for some of the best wine-making equipment available and was a significant investment in the future of the industry." Managed with the help of VINx2, the Tasmanian harvest is reaping yields up 10 to 30% more than expected. "Our first vintage in a new winery coupled with higher than expected yields has kept us very busy. The team at JX2 have provided outstanding service on the phone, via email and even onsite whenever we needed them. They're quick on their feet with fast turnaround times" said Jeremy Dineen, Winemaker and Manager. In early December, VINx2 was installed at the award winning contract winery, The Vintage Wineworx of Western Australia. Headed by Dr. Diane Miller, the winery underwent a $1 million expansion in 2007 and was officially re-opened by influential wine critic James Halliday. Dr Miller's impressions of VINx2 are "Modern and very user-friendly interface with much more detail than our previous winery software program. Any suggestions we have made for amendments and add-ins have been met with enthusiasm and prompt updates performed by the VINx2 team. The support has been excellent..." VINx2 is a web based information system built on top of open source technology. It is packaged as an online managed service with all updates, hardware maintenance and backups taken care of. Its adoption by wineries in rural areas demonstrates that the shift away from traditional in-house information systems to web based technology is not confined to metropolitan businesses alone. "With more accessible bandwidth, including newer wireless technologies, our clients in regional and remote areas are able to benefit from increased levels of service afforded with our Internet deployment model. JX2 Technology Pty Ltd today announced the successful installation of its next-generation winery information system VINx2, at Belvidere Winery, Langhorne Creek. Belvidere Winery is among Australia's largest contract production facilities with a crush capacity in excess of 20,000 tonnes. The winery moved quickly to secure VINx2 before vintage, eager to improve efficiency and continue to provide unparalleled levels of service to its customers.

JX2 Technology is excited to announce the official launch of its innovative Winery Information System, VINx2 at WineTech 2007.
JX2 demonstrated the system from the 29th July to the 1st August to prospective customers and key wine industry figures participating in the AWITC. "VINx2 is the culmination of 18 months research and development with local winemakers and we are overjoyed that the system has generated so much interest and been welcomed by the wine industry." said Jamie Gilchrist, Managing Director. At 10am on day one of the show, over a dozen visitors descended onto JX2's stand for a demonstration of the system. VINx2 did not disappoint, with the company securing its first sale of the show by 11am. By day two, JX2 caught the attention of the wider media and was featured in the exhibition newsletter and also interviewed and filmed demonstrating the system to conference delegates. "We are happy to report that we made several sales and had a steady steam of visitors throughout the show. We attribute our successful launch to the quality of the system and the fact that it has been designed to complement winemaking and not get in the way. The system is very 'visual' and doesn't treat winemakers like book-keepers." said Gilchrist. JX2 Technology will be launching its innovative new Winery Information System, VINx2, during WineTech from July 29 to August 1, 2007.JX2 Technology will be demonstrating its new system at WineTech 2007, as well as offering special introductory packages. "We understand things have been tough, particularly for wine producers with smaller economies of scale. Our goal is to improve business efficiency with a winery-specific, affordable and easy-to-use software solution," said Jamie Gilchrist, co-founder of JX2 Technology. According to JX2 Technology, VINx2 is a cutting edge software solution designed to streamline the flow of information within a winery environment. The software does more than simplify record keeping; it traces the history of a wine from grape to bottle, and delivers:
VINx2 allows wine producers to do all this and more, conveniently and securely from any Internet-connected computer (PC, Macintosh or Linux) whileat the winery, office, on-the-road or at home. JX2 Technology also takes the hassle out of data back-ups, software updates and system maintenance by providing the option of a fully managed service that includes flexible phone, web or email support. "Like a lot of small business owners, winemakers may prefer to catch up on book keeping in the comfort of their own home. With this in mind, we are offering flexible support options allowing winemakers to contact us at a time that suits them" Gilchrist said. VINx2 was designed and built with the help of "Mac" from Mac Forbes Wines. Mac is an experienced winemaker who worked closely with Dr John Middleton from Mount Mary before further refining his style overseas. JX2 Technology today announced its enrolment in the MYOB Professional Partner Program for software developers. The partnership program provides members with extensive technical resources and support to assist with the integration of third-party products to the MYOB product suite.
JX2 Technology is excited to reveal that it will be demonstrating how VINx2 is usable with MYOB products at WineTech 2007. Recent studies published by the Cooperative Research Centre for Viticulture (CRCV) show that over 40% of Australian wineries use MYOB for their financial accounting records. According to JX2, there can be considerable overlap between winemaking and accounting records in areas such as inventory, suppliers, customers, employee information and staff timesheets that result in the duplication of data, double-entry and wasted time. "Our goal is to streamline the flow of information and save time within a winery business. Instead of re-inventing the 'accounting software wheel', we want to bridge the gap and provide a two-way flow of information between VINx2 and existing accounting software solutions." said co-founder Jamie Gilchrist.
